Today I had the opportunity to shoot the Very Good Sisters. These twins are a complete blast. This was my first time shooting sisters and it was a wonderful experience. Of course they have very distinct personalities and styles, and gave very different looks to the camera. When we planned our shoot it was a pleasant and comfortable 85, but on photo day it was 102 outside; we were baking. I have to say that these girls were troopers and really took to posing and playing and laughing the whole afternoon. The result was a series of beautiful images of these two amazing young ladies.
My second shoot with the wonderful and fun Mikayla. I love connecting and laughing with clients as we capture beautiful images. In this session we worked with natural light in more of a contemporary glamour shoot. Mikayla is always a fun and engaging young lady and the camera loves her. We worked with different backdrops in a more confined and cozy studio environment. This brings a more dramatic effect for portraits.
Today shoot was with the wonderful Miss Mikayla. We set up this shoot to take place in a field in Roseville Ca. This turned out to be one of the last days her best friend, and singularly awesome individual, Mar was going to be in town before moving out of state. I was honored to be able to photograph some of the fun that these girls have. They are both lively, funny and kind and I hope some of that comes thorugh in these images. Being able to capture people as they are at that moment in their life is an encouraging process.
This week, I had another chance to shoot with the wonderful Rachel. There is a fun little side street in Old Roseville that has some great colors and textures. Rachel brought her "up for anything" attitude and we had a blast. It's always great to work with someone who is the embodiment of joy. We shot in the alley, dodged a few cars, and had some 'hair flipping' moments. I couldn't ask for a better shoot! Thank you Rachel.
Soft and Sultry was the theme of a meetup I attended in Roseville. There were around 10 models posing in lovely dresses in different settings all waiting to have their picture taken. They sure didn't have to wait long with about 18 photographers around eager to snap them up. This was a curious adventure for me. Each model tries hard to pose and be beautiful, while paying attention to each phototographer clicking away. It was . . . interesting.
Hard rock, but super nice. These guys contacted me to to shoot their band photos for their upcoming album, "Until the war is won." We met in an abandoned and burnt building for a series of profile and group shots. These guys were a blast to work with, they really got into the shoot. We tried a lot of creative shots and I think the final images turned out great. For some hard rock check them out at www.shadowkillerband.com
Today was my first shoot with someone who wasn't a member of my family. It's a scary thing to start down a path that forces you to share your art with others. What I do, what this path is about, is asking someone to join me in crafting, capturing and sharing special moments. There can be so much fear and doubt in this process for the photographer and client alike.
